Job description:
The Director of Talent Acquisition will spearhead the formulation and implementation of an innovative, data-driven recruitment strategy that underpins AWH’s ambitious growth objectives across its corporate, retail, and operational sectors. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of talent acquisition, including workforce planning, employer branding, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hiring strategies, recruitment operations, and vendor management. The Director will lead a high-performing Talent Acquisition team, ensuring an exceptional experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
As a strategic partner to the EVP of Human Resources, the C-Suite, and business leaders, the Director will align recruitment strategies with evolving business priorities, cultivate strong internal partnerships, and advocate for a scalable, inclusive approach to attracting top-tier talent.
Key Responsibilities:
– Design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that is aligned with AWH’s growth objectives and workforce planning needs across corporate, retail, and operational sectors.
– Regularly assess external market trends, competitor strategies, and internal business needs to keep the talent acquisition roadmap proactive and future-ready.
– Manage and mentor a team of talent acquisition professionals, ensuring high performance, streamlined processes, and a consistent approach to candidate experience.
– Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement through regular coaching, development plans, and performance metrics.
– Act as a trusted advisor to the C-Suite and senior leaders by providing data-driven insights and strategic talent recommendations that support organizational planning.
– Collaborate with HR, Finance, and departmental leaders regarding headcount forecasting, succession planning, and organizational design, thereby aligning recruitment efforts with long-term business requirements.
– Develop and oversee the Talent Acquisition budget, ensuring effective resource allocation across recruitment channels, tools, and initiatives to meet hiring goals while adhering to financial constraints.
– Establish and maintain strong, consultative relationships with business leaders to fully understand hiring needs, evolving talent requirements, and internal dynamics.
– Conduct regular talent planning meetings with stakeholders to ensure consensus on job priorities, recruitment timelines, and evolving team structures.
– Lead employer branding initiatives and advocate for the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to position AWH as a premier employer within the cannabis and consumer goods sectors.
– Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to create compelling content, campaigns, and candidate-facing materials that reflect AWH’s culture and mission.
– Develop and execute inclusive hiring practices that establish diverse candidate pipelines, ensure equitable selection processes, and measure progress towards DEI hiring goals.
– Partner with external organizations to enhance outreach and visibility among underrepresented talent communities.
– Utilize recruiting metrics and data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of talent acquisition efforts.
– Generate regular dashboards and executive reports that highlight key hiring KPIs, pipeline health, time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, and DEI metrics.
– Assess the effectiveness of third-party recruiting partners, tools, and platforms, making strategic recommendations based on performance, ROI, and business needs.
– Employ strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, service-level agreements, and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with AWH’s objectives and budget.
– Standardize and optimize recruitment workflows, tools, and technologies to provide a best-in-class candidate and hiring manager experience.
– Create scalable and consistent end-to-end processes to support high-volume, specialty, and temporary hiring while enhancing operational efficiency.
– Develop and implement a comprehensive temporary workforce strategy that aligns with fluctuating business needs and long-term talent plans.
– Establish vendor partnerships, define engagement standards, and monitor performance and temp-to-perm conversion trends.
– Manage the planning and execution of recruiting events to raise brand visibility and increase pipeline volume across priority markets.
– Analyze event performance, recruiter productivity, and the effectiveness of sourcing channels.
– Document all recruiting strategies, workflows, and procedures to ensure alignment across the organization.
– Maintain current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborate with HR and Compliance to ensure clarity, consistency, and scalability.
– Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies during all hiring processes.
– Conduct regular audits of recruitment practices and provide training to talent acquisition staff and hiring teams on compliant, inclusive hiring behaviors.
– Undertake additional related duties and projects as assigned to support the evolving needs of the organization and the Talent function.
Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or HR certifications (such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP) are preferred.
– A minimum of 10 years of progressive talent acquisition experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience within high-growth, multi-state retail or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
– Superior leadership and people management skills, with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
– In-depth understanding of full-cycle recruitment, workforce planning, and strategic talent initiatives.
– Proven capability to partner with executive leadership and influence collaboration across all organizational levels.
– Demonstrated success in developing inclusive recruiting strategies and building diverse talent pipelines.
– Strong analytical abilities to leverage data in decision-making, aligning talent acquisition with business goals and reporting on outcomes.
– Experience in implementing or optimizing Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), recruitment technology platforms, and overarching recruitment strategies.
– Exceptional communication, organizational, and change management capabilities.
– Creative problem-solving skills and a readiness to challenge the status quo to foster continuous improvement.
– Willingness to travel up to 30%.
