Job description:
The Director of Sales-Select Service is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing operations of a Select Service hotel. This role aims to achieve optimal occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR) growth, maximizing total revenue while meeting or exceeding the hotel’s profit objectives. The director will manage the hotel sales department’s operations, including direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, staff hiring and training, as well as managing and coaching team members. Additional responsibilities encompass developing and managing sales and marketing budgets, forecasts, advertising, marketing, and business plans for the hotel, ensuring adherence to approved plans and budgets. Exempt associates are expected to work diligently throughout each workday to fulfill their job responsibilities. Primary duties involve administrative, executive, or professional tasks for more than 50 percent of the time and will also require the discretionary use of independent judgment for over 50 percent of the time.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience is preferred; alternatively, a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related experience, or a 2-year college degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience may suffice.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective negotiation, persuasion, selling, and influencing managerial personnel, hotel guests, and corporate clients.
- Extensive experience with professional selling skills including opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic vision are required for establishing effective sales deployment.
- Proficiency in general computer knowledge, particularly Microsoft Office products, is essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills are a must.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact effectively and manage individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds while resolving complex issues and creating a productive sales team.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
- Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the division’s annual budget along with advertising, public relations, marketing, and sales plans to optimize rates, occupancy, and food & beverage opportunities, ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds revenue and profit goals set by management and ownership.
- Proactively conduct outside sales calls, sales tours, and client entertainment.
- Thoroughly understand contract contents and effectively negotiate terms.
- Maintain market awareness to anticipate revenue opportunities and devise proactive strategies.
- Monitor production of top accounts and analyze market trends.
- Adhere to Aimbridge Hospitality’s established regulations, standards, and sales metrics.
- Achieve individual and team goals while complying with budgeted metrics.
- Train hotel staff members to recognize and seize sales opportunities to enhance hotel occupancy and revenue.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations and policies, including sales, food and beverage, front office, and reservations.
- Maintain a strong presence in the local community and industry organizations.
- Attend and/or conduct regular meetings and other functions as required by management, providing training on a rotational basis.
- Foster professional working relationships with marketing partners and other internal departments (e.g., Second Wave Aimbridge Digital or Branded field marketing) to achieve initiatives.
- Travel on a weekly basis as necessary.
- Assume responsibilities on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and carry out any additional duties as assigned by management.
