Job description:

We are currently seeking a Diesel Maintenance Technician/Mechanic to join our team in Dayton, OH.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain all components of tractors and trailers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with manufacturer diagnostic computer software.
  • Utilize OEM manuals and online resources effectively to execute maintenance and repairs.
  • Track and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Linde requirements on all distribution equipment.
  • Contribute to maintaining fleet appearance by repairing and re-fabricating body parts.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of parts inventory, including tires, fuel, and lubricants.
  • Conduct occasional road calls to ensure timely delivery of trucks to customers.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to expedite the completion of repairs.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems on vehicles.
  • Understand and operate various diagnostic and calibration equipment.
  • Maintain full compliance with trucking bulletins and alerts.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve control system issues related to tractor PTO and hydraulic pumping systems.
  • Input corrective maintenance, warranty, and preventive maintenance work orders, tracking them through the electronic maintenance management system.
  • Uphold excellent shop cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental compliance protocols.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • At least one year of experience with and understanding of 49 CFR §396 and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Ability to obtain air brake inspector certification.
  • Knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems.
  • Able to acquire air conditioning repair certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a CDL Class A.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Applications, email, and electronic maintenance management systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Availability for overtime and on-call duties as required.
  • Must possess personal hand tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cryogenic systems, including pump systems, valves, and piping.
  • Familiarity with Freightliner and Detroit Diesel Engines, as well as Eaton manual and automatic transmissions.
  • ASE certification as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Experience in fabricating and welding.
