We are currently seeking a Backhaul Driver based in Twinsburg, OH.

Work Schedule:

  • 5 days a week; Monday to Friday
  • Start time: 3:00 AM
  • Daily hours: 8-10 hours

Position Overview:
As a Backhaul Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, legal, and timely transportation and delivery of freight from third-party supplier locations to NDCP warehouses. This position involves working in environments with varying temperatures and humidity levels, including dry, cooler, and freezer areas of the trailer, as well as outdoor weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer truck to transport products to designated locations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Confirm all delivery-related paperwork is organized prior to departing the Distribution Center or transportation hub.
  • Prepare, receive, and manage documentation for product deliveries.
  • Assist in loading trailers at supplier locations.
  • Detach loaded trailers and safely pick up empty trailers at stores.
  • Maintain accurate travel and product logs in compliance with Federal, State, and DOT regulations.
  • Stay in communication with Member Services and relevant transportation personnel to address delivery issues.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper presentation of the truck cab’s interior.
  • Perform post-trip inspections to verify equipment status for minimizing delays the next day.
  • Timely report any maintenance or vehicle malfunction issues to the appropriate Transportation Supervisor.
  • Provide a high level of customer service as the primary NDCP point of contact between the Distribution Center and suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Card are required.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of Class A CDL driving experience is necessary, with experience in the food industry highly preferred.
  • A clean motor vehicle record (MVR) consistent with NDCP’s hiring requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to operate both manual and automatic transmission tractors.
  • Proficiency in operating refrigeration units and lift gates safely.
  • Familiarity with On Board Computer/Electronic Log Systems is preferred.
  • Competence in reading maps and following written directions for efficient route navigation.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Commercial Motor Vehicle requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to adapt to varying work schedules as needed to support NDCP’s operations.
