YOUR ROLE
We are seeking individuals renowned for their exceptional driving skills and a strong commitment to safety. This position involves operating heavy trucks and tractor-trailers with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) capacity exceeding 26,000 pounds to transport cargo to various destinations, including customer locations, airline, and trucking terminals. Your commitment to safety will ensure that you consistently drive in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety protocols and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Serve as a messenger for the company while delivering outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Transport materials to and from specified destinations safely and efficiently, complying with State and Federal DOT regulations and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements.
- Safeguard company equipment and freight from damage, theft, or tampering.
- Ensure the safety and proper securing of cargo, verifying its condition and accuracy of delivery documentation.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift and pallet jack while employing appropriate safety measures such as load locks, straps, and covers to ensure cargo is delivered in excellent condition.
- May involve reloading or unloading trailers at refineries or storage tanks.
- Monitor and report any irregularities related to the pickup and/or delivery of cargo, such as damage, shortages, customer complaints, or requests.
- Maintain communication with the dispatch office and promptly report delays due to weather, breakdowns, accidents, or other emergencies.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of one year of verifiable CDL Class A or B driving experience within the industry and for the type of vehicle to be operated.
- A minimum of five years of industry driving experience may substitute for a high school diploma or GED.
- Some positions may require specific experience in transporting fuel over the road and fueling locomotives, as well as railway industry experience.
Credentials:
- A valid state-issued Class C Driver’s License from the driver’s home state of residence.
- Certain positions may necessitate a Class B license and a hazardous materials endorsement.
- A driving record that aligns with DOT, TSA regulations, and company standards.
- Compliance with physical requirements set by DOT, including possession of a current valid medical card.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card as necessary.
- E Rail clearance may be required for specific roles.
- Forklift Driver Certification.
- DOT Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials Certification; must be bondable.
