Job description:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead employee engagement strategies throughout the City of Detroit. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders, sharing insights and best practices to promote a culture of engagement and innovation. This role involves operationalizing measurement tools, programs, and strategies related to employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the City of Detroit’s employee engagement measurement tools and programs, working closely with HR leadership, Employee Services consultants, and business leaders to deliver data-driven insights that align employee engagement with organizational objectives and interests.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement change management initiatives, as well as human resource policies and programs that support city-wide objectives.
- Conceptualize and develop human resource strategies, processes, and procedures aimed at enhancing customer service efficiencies.
- Consult on various measurement initiatives, including survey design, program evaluation, and focus groups.
- Foster an inclusive, motivational, empowering, and performance-oriented work environment that aligns with our core values.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned business areas and the operations within the City.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations through EEO reporting and analysis.
- Integrate employee engagement data with other initiatives across HR and the City, providing robust analytics and insights.
- Stay current on engagement trends and best practices to inform strategy and implementation.
- Manage relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Oversee budget performance and allocation.
- Lead assigned special projects and programs.
- Proactively identify solutions and facilitate effective problem-solving across teams.
- Provide human resources consultation and support in areas such as employee relations, position management, employee engagement, and development.
- Pursue technology enhancements to improve action planning and analysis of employee feedback.
- Supervise and provide leadership to the Engagement Team, fostering initiatives that enhance employee engagement.
- Support the employee engagement survey process, which includes survey design, administration, reporting, and data analytics.
- Track and measure the effectiveness of engagement initiatives, collaborating with Employee Services Consultants (ESCs) to ensure sustainability.
- Enhance the employee recognition program to acknowledge contributions and achievements across the organization.
- Lead volunteer engagement initiatives, partnering with stakeholders to create meaningful opportunities for employees to contribute to the community.
- Guide Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and promote an inclusive workplace culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, management, organizational development, or a related field.
- A minimum of four years of human resources experience in various aspects such as compensation, recruitment/staffing, benefits, HRIS, employee resource management, training and development, or organizational development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in human resources, particularly in talent management and employee engagement.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, with in-depth knowledge of human resources data.
- Exceptional people management skills; capable of empowering, leading, and holding employees accountable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Office 365, Smartsheet, Canva, and Adobe Pro.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Experienced in people analytics, with the ability to leverage HR analytics and reporting to produce valuable insights.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and develop actionable plans.
- Strong customer focus that aligns with both organizational and employee needs.
- Demonstrated ability to foster innovation and drive change with proven transformation expertise.
