Job description:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of assigned equipment. This role involves active participation in the preventative maintenance program, addressing guest requests, and managing other assigned work orders. Additionally, the Maintenance Engineer must execute all tasks in a safe and efficient manner, performing skilled trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and more. Driving the shuttle van may be required as necessary, depending on the property specifications.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience in a hotel or a related field.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- License in a relevant trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license for the applicable state is required.
- An acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) is mandatory for this position.
- Certification from a one-year college or technical school; or three to six months of relevant experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate precision and thoroughness; actively monitors personal work to ensure quality and incorporates feedback for performance improvement.
- Demonstrated flexibility in response to change and adaptability to new methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety principles and adherence to federal and state OSHA regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Replace light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch-up painting, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guest rooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and the hot tub.
- Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply systems; monitor energy conservation efforts; repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment as requested.
- Respond promptly to any alarms to ascertain the exact location and cause, determine the emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk.
- Gain access to back-of-house areas and manage sensitive information.
- Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally without supervision.
- Access sensitive areas of the hotel, including safe master keys, guest rooms, storage areas, liquor rooms, and secured file cabinets.
- Drive safely on behalf of the company for business purposes.
- Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility within the role.
