Job description:

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking an Equipment Operator/Yard Person to join our team at the Wirt Dock location in Saginaw, MI. This position involves a variety of general functions, including the operation of heavy mobile equipment, general housekeeping and clean-up tasks, as well as equipment and plant maintenance.

Shift: 10-12 Hour Day Shift, Monday through Friday, with some weekends required
Pay: $20-$24 per hour, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:
The Equipment Operator/Yard Person will:

  • Operate various types of heavy mobile equipment, including front loaders
  • Off-load cargo ships and load trucks
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with water vessel crews to ensure safe material unloading
  • Perform light maintenance on equipment and within the plant
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain accurate record-keeping
  • Ensure that the work area allows for safe movement and access
  • Meet customer service expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience operating heavy mobile equipment or a willingness to learn
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • A team-oriented and safety-conscious mentality
  • The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50 lbs
  • A willingness to learn proper fertilizer storage techniques
  • The capacity to work outdoors for extended periods, in proximity to water, and tolerate varying noise and temperature conditions
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and co-workers
  • A valid driver’s license
