The Executive Chef plays a pivotal role in managing the culinary team within the venue’s Food & Beverage operation. This position entails direct supervision, coaching, counseling, and mentoring of employees to ensure that the company’s quality standards are met. The Executive Chef is responsible for initiating and authorizing various employment actions, including hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer. This role also requires independent management of employee relations to foster a positive, compliant, and collaborative work environment.
The Executive Chef oversees the daily operations of the kitchen, aligning with Oak View Group’s policies and objectives to achieve guest satisfaction, profitability, and a constructive work environment. The Executive Chef is tasked with effective management of the culinary team, which includes event planning support, scheduling, food preparation and production, food cost control, adherence to food safety and sanitation policies, kitchen safety, employee training and supervision, and any additional duties assigned by the Food & Beverage Director. High levels of oversight, culinary expertise, and operational support are paramount to ensure seamless operations across all food outlets and events.
This key position is integral to the efficient and profitable functioning of the business. The Executive Chef must maintain excellent attendance and be adaptable to a variable schedule driven by events, which may include evenings and weekends. Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, and self-direction are essential to this role.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $80,000. Benefits for full-time roles include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan and matching contributions, as well as paid time off including vacation days, sick days, and 12 holidays.

Responsibilities:
– Manage, develop, and mentor a culinary staff of over 35 full-time and part-time employees, including the initiation of employment actions such as hiring, disciplinary measures, and termination.
– Ensure that event staff are informed of workplace expectations; provide ongoing support, training, and mentoring; and foster a positive and collaborative work atmosphere by leading by example.
– Ensure budgeted food costs are achieved through effective control measures such as portion control, kitchen timings, food inventory rotation, and efficient purchasing procedures.
– Control labor costs by optimizing staff scheduling, cross-training employees, and monitoring breaks and documentation for kitchen staff.
– Ensure that all food products purchased and prepared meet Oak View Group’s quality standards; oversee menu development while maintaining the quality, consistency, and style of the culinary concept.
– Supervise all kitchen line set-up, preparation, and breakdown activities, delegating tasks where necessary.
– Coordinate the storage, maintenance, and repair of all kitchen equipment to guarantee operational readiness.
– Oversee the delivery and set-up of catered services and dining areas as required.
– Facilitate staff training and development, including orienting new employees, while providing leadership and support to the culinary team.
– Maintain a positive employee relations climate; manage staffing, training, evaluations, and counseling of kitchen staff; and encourage open communication across all staff levels.
– Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and employment regulations by clearly communicating standards to kitchen staff.
– Manage record-keeping for food inventories and invoicing while organizing employee work schedules to meet coverage needs across kitchen areas.
– Promote teamwork through effective communication, follow-through, and goal-setting, leading by example to achieve high-quality service and operational standards.
– Oversee the production of staff meals, ensuring that they are nutritious, timely, and satisfactory according to the meal calendar.
Qualifications:
– A minimum of 2-3 years of kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or event venue.
– Proven success in achieving projected costs.
– Professional appearance and demeanor are essential.
– Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
– Valid Food Handler’s card and alcohol service permit as mandated by local regulations.
