Position Summary:
The Executive Chef is responsible for leading the culinary team, which plays a pivotal role in the venue’s food and beverage operations. This position involves actively supervising, coaching, counseling, directing, training, and mentoring employees to uphold the company’s quality standards. The Executive Chef will independently initiate and authorize all personnel actions, including hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer. The Executive Chef will also manage all aspects of employee relations, fostering a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative workplace.
In this role, the Executive Chef oversees the daily operations of the kitchen in alignment with Oak View Group’s policies and objectives, ensuring guest satisfaction, profitability, and a constructive work environment. Responsibilities include effective management of the culinary team, event planning support, scheduling, food preparation and production, food cost control, adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations, cleaning, kitchen safety, and employee supervision, in addition to tasks assigned by the Food and Beverage Director. High-level oversight, culinary expertise, and operational support are essential for the seamless operation of all food outlets and events.
This is a critical position for the successful and profitable functioning of the business, requiring exemplary attendance and availability to work a variable schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Open availability, professional appearance, exceptional interpersonal skills, and self-direction are required. The annual salary for this role ranges from $60,000 to $65,000.

Responsibilities:
– Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 35 full-time and part-time culinary staff, including the initiation of employment actions.
– Ensure that event staff understands workplace expectations; provide continuous assistance, training, and mentoring to foster a positive and collaborative environment.
– Achieve budgeted food costs through effective control measures such as portion control, inventory rotation, receiving, and storage procedures.
– Monitor labor costs through strategic staff scheduling, cross-training, and employee development; oversee breaks and documentation for kitchen staff.
– Ensure the purchasing and preparation of food products adheres to Oak View Group’s high standards for quality and consistency, developing menus that maintain culinary excellence.
– Supervise line set-up, preparation, and breakdown activities; delegate tasks effectively to kitchen staff during service.
– Oversee storage, maintenance, and repair of kitchen equipment to guarantee operational readiness.
– Coordinate the delivery and set-up of catered services and food service areas as required.
– Facilitate kitchen staff training and development, including the orientation of new employees; provide leadership and support to enhance morale and empower staff.
– Maintain a positive employee relations climate, overseeing staffing, training, evaluation, and communication with the kitchen team.
– Uphold compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and employment regulations by regularly communicating standards and procedures to the kitchen staff.
– Ensure accurate kitchen record-keeping and administrative tasks, including food inventories and invoicing.
– Foster teamwork among staff through effective communication and clear goal-setting; lead by example to maintain high product and service standards.
– Oversee the production of staff meals to ensure they are timely, healthy, and substantial according to the meal calendar.
Qualifications:
– Minimum of 2-3 years of kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue.
– A demonstrated, verifiable track record of maintaining budgeted costs.
– Professional appearance and demeanor is essential.
– Proficient in computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
– Current Food Handler’s card and alcohol service permit, as required by state or local regulations.
