Job description:

As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen and all food production operations within our organization. Your role will involve implementing structured processes during facility transitions and ensuring the successful launch of new business at client sites. Adaptability will be key, as each transition may require modifications to our planned approach in response to change requests.

You will serve as a representative of TouchPoint’s values, vision, and mission, leading daily lineups and training both staff and new onsite management to embrace our culture. A comprehensive understanding of all TouchPoint systems and processes across our various sectors—including Senior Living, Healthcare, and Retail Management—is essential.

Clear and effective communication with residents and guests is imperative, tailoring your approach based on audience and subject matter. Upholding the company’s culinary brand standards and HACCP food safety guidelines is crucial, alongside training new Executive Chefs and production staff in necessary systems and processes.

You will ensure that high-quality, well-presented food is served to all residents within established timeframes. Development and implementation of food tracking systems and daily production records will be part of your responsibilities, along with menu design and recipe adherence. Proficiency in forecasting and production will ensure timely delivery of all products at the appropriate temperatures.

You will also be responsible for purchasing food and supplies, following specified product standards and authorized vendors, while developing efficient workflows for kitchen and production staff. Overseeing the scheduling and supervision of the culinary team with adherence to productivity metrics is expected, as well as fostering strong relationships with residents, the Executive Director, and fellow department heads.

Regular training and informational meetings will be administered to maintain consistent production, service, and sanitation standards while adhering to established budgets for financial and operational efficiency. Collaboration with the onsite Health, Wellness, and Nutritional Director on menus and recipes will be necessary, along with ensuring regulatory compliance through meticulous program documentation.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as an Executive Chef or Chef Manager is required.
  • Previous experience in dining service transitions and openings is preferred.
  • Certifications such as Serve Safe, Choke Save, and Allergen certification are advantageous.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or Hotel/Restaurant Management is highly desirable, with completion of a Certified Dietary Management program preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment that supports growth and rewards achievements.

Work Environment:

  • Scheduling may necessitate a 10-day on, 4-day off rotation, adjusting based on business needs and transition requirements.
  • This position requires extensive travel, potentially up to 100%.
  • Applicants must reside in the Detroit Metro area and within an hour of a major airport, and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • The role involves exposure to extreme temperatures and conditions, with frequent interaction with heated equipment, grease, and refrigeration/freezer environments.
  • Proficiency in computer technology and software applications is essential.
  • The position requires repetitive motion, with the necessity for prolonged standing, walking, and frequent lifting, pushing, and carrying.
