Field Application Specialist with HammerHead:
The Application Specialist will report directly to the Manager of Application Specialists and will be responsible for facilitating training sessions and practicums, in addition to providing advanced technical support for HammerHead equipment applications. Key responsibilities include overseeing new equipment startups, managing pilot programs, offering technical support for rental equipment, and conducting live demonstrations above ground. This position plays a vital role in maintaining our high standards of customer support by serving as a trusted advisor and executing tasks with the utmost integrity, efficiency, and professionalism.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Traveling to various job and construction sites throughout the year via air and highways.
  • Facilitating customer training sessions utilizing specialized industry expertise alongside principles of adult learning theory.
  • Supporting sales initiatives by conducting pilot programs, delivering technical support for rental equipment, and performing live demonstrations for potential customers.
  • Assessing trainees against a standardized rubric for certification purposes.
  • Maintaining an advanced understanding of HammerHead Trenchless product lines.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in the development of training curriculum, assessments, and materials.
  • Conducting product tests both in the field and at the main facility.
  • Providing continuous feedback to product management regarding customer concerns and future needs.
  • Participating in regional and national trade shows.
  • Adhering to budgeted expense guidelines.
  • Performing other duties and assignments as directed.

Work Environment:
The majority of the role will be conducted in a construction job site environment, which may involve exposure to physical hazards such as utilities (typically gas, electric, and water lines), vehicular and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, and moving machinery. You will also encounter outdoor weather conditions and construction site challenges, including open excavations, unimproved land, and incomplete structures. There will be extensive use of telephone and email communications, along with rapidly changing demands, schedules, and deadlines. The position may involve handling hazardous materials, including fuels, lubricants, fluids, and batteries. Travel by air and highway can be expected up to 75% of the time, with occasional weekend travel to ensure timely customer support and trips on short notice. Standard working hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with additional hours/days required to meet customer support needs as directed.

What Do You Need?

  • High School diploma is required.
  • A valid US driver’s license is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the trenchless industry is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint or equivalent software.
  • A results-oriented, hands-on approach to customer support and training.
  • Ability to mentor and coach customers on best practices.
  • Strong critical reasoning skills with the capacity to listen effectively and gather essential information.
  • A team-oriented mindset that prioritizes collective success over individual achievement.
  • Confidence paired with a genuine, approachable demeanor.
  • Self-starter with the discipline to manage and complete tasks without direct supervision.

For Tier 2 candidates:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the industry OR a minimum of three years in the industry combined with at least one year in a role such as trainer, project manager, project supervisor, or crew leader.

For Tier 3 candidates:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in the industry OR a minimum of eight years in the industry alongside at least three years in a role such as trainer, project manager, project supervisor, or crew leader.
