Job description:

We are actively seeking a Field Service Engineer or Field Service Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Detroit, MI, with a prestigious international company renowned for delivering cutting-edge laser technology solutions to the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, and Scientific research sectors.

This position provides a comprehensive benefits package, including Paid Time Off (PTO), Medical, Dental, Vision insurance, 401(k) plan, Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Short-Term Disability (STD). The pay rate ranges from $30 to $36.53 per hour, commensurate with experience, and includes opportunities for overtime and per diem compensation.

A generous relocation package of $10,000 to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates who are willing to relocate, which encompasses 4 to 8 weeks of housing in an apartment or extended stay hotel, along with 6 to 8 weeks of car rental assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers across North America as part of our technical service team.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair company equipment to the highest standards.
  • Conduct basic retrofits, software installations, and provide customer training.
  • Complete all required paperwork promptly and accurately.
  • Work independently to resolve technical issues while fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Candidates must be located within 45 minutes of a major international airport and should be willing to relocate or reside in Plymouth, MI, Cincinnati, OH, or St. Louis, MO.

Qualifications:

  • A two-year technical degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, or a combination of relevant training and work experience.
  • Proven experience with electrical and computer systems and a high proficiency in diagnostic skills.
  • Prior experience with robotics, lasers, automation systems, or mechatronics is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Travel:

  • This role requires 100% travel within North America to support customers.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to obtain a U.S. passport and rent vehicles.
