The Field Service Technician will deliver expert field service technical support for all Getinge Medical Systems products within the designated territory. This role entails responding promptly to emergency calls and scheduling preventive maintenance visits to fulfill service agreement commitments, all while prioritizing quality service and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the technician will play a vital role in supporting the renewal of service contracts and identifying new service contract opportunities to expand the service business in the territory. Strong technical skills combined with effective communication abilities are essential for engaging positively with customers and company personnel. The position requires the ability to independently manage work schedules and demonstrate fundamental business acumen for effective communication across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site and telephone technical service support for the installation, inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of products for customers within the assigned territory.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with customers, regional team members, and the Technical Support group.
- Document all activities in accordance with service policies and procedures.
- Offer technical assistance to the Field Sales team.
- Ensure compliance with service policies and procedures for all service contracts and assist in identifying potential service contract customers.
- Safeguard company assets and maintain loaner and test equipment, spare parts inventory, and other company supplies in excellent working condition.
- Make informed decisions based on policies and procedures and escalate unresolved customer service issues to the respective Service Regional Manager.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Embed quality principles in all aspects of work.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in interpreting schematics, system diagrams, and following repair/replacement procedures to troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate assigned products within the territory.
- Strong mechanical and electro-mechanical skills, including knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, etc.
- Highly organized and capable of executing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to present service solutions that effectively address customer needs.
- Demonstrate a high level of critical thinking.
- Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel approximately 40% to 75% of the time, including occasional overnight trips.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Associate of Science Degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent military training and experience with a focus on electronics technology.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a field service role related to medical devices, technical repair, or a similar technical field.
The base salary for this position ranges from $33 to $40 per hour.
