Your Role at Baxter
The Associate, Field Service II holds a vital role in building trust to achieve results. The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct complex repairs on all medical equipment—both customer-owned and company-owned. Additionally, the Associate will perform tasks similar to those of a Field Service Technician I, ensuring product readiness for patient use across a variety of rental and customer-owned medical products. This role requires safe operation of a fleet vehicle and involves direct contact with customers. The Associate will also provide 24/7 support for delivery, removal, and service of products within service centers and customer accounts, all executed with professionalism and timeliness.
This is a full-time position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The candidate must reside locally and will report to the West Chester facility. Responsibilities may include potential on-call duties one weekend per month.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Safety
- Participate in monthly safety meetings.
- Maintain a proactive approach to safety awareness and compliance.
- Complete all required safety and compliance training modules promptly.
- Conduct medical testing as necessary.
- Sustain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to 5S activities.
- Safely operate a fleet vehicle, including cargo vans and trucks weighing up to 26,000 pounds.
- Identify and address safety concerns as they arise.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 65 pounds following appropriate safety and ergonomic procedures.
Repair & Maintenance
- Perform intricate repairs on medical devices beyond routine cosmetic fixes or component swaps.
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of assigned products.
- Utilize service manuals and documentation for advanced troubleshooting and assessment while working unsupervised.
- Provide written estimates for repairs based on assessments of assigned products.
- Employ sophisticated testing equipment for assigned products.
- Generate service revenue and fulfill activities under service contracts.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on various medical devices.
- Conduct pre-installation maintenance, including preventive maintenance and inspections, independently.
- Inspect medical equipment for functional and cosmetic issues requiring adjustments or repairs.
- Apply appropriate tools for necessary adjustments and repairs.
- Oversee the readings of electronic meters and gauges.
- Execute general housekeeping duties as needed.
Delivery & Removal
- Load, unload, deliver, and remove medical products weighing up to 1680 pounds to and from customer accounts without assistance, utilizing safe practices.
- Maneuver Baxter products within service centers, healthcare facilities, and homes without assistance while utilizing appropriate safety techniques.
- Secure medical products within truck beds independently.
- Sustain prolonged periods of sitting up to 4 hours, subject to high vibration levels while operating a company vehicle.
- Assist nursing staff in transferring patients from existing beds to Baxter equipment or interim stretchers.
Flexibility
- Provide on-call availability on a 24/7 basis, including weekends and holidays, potentially requiring customer visits.
- Adapt to a continually changing schedule of activities.
- Exercise sound judgment in planning and coordination to meet customer demands.
- Manage high-stress situations arising from customer demands, scheduling conflicts, driving conditions, and other uncontrollable factors.
Recordkeeping
- Complete written documentation (records, reports, and forms) for internal, regulatory, and project purposes.
- Read and comprehend technical bulletins related to Baxter product repair and maintenance.
- Utilize various electronic devices to obtain and enter information, requiring data analysis and interpretation as necessary.
Present & Train
- Deliver effective oral presentations to customers and colleagues, including:
- In-service training sessions for hospital staff and caregivers.
- Product demonstrations.
- Participation in team meetings.
- Sharing insights from field activities.
- Cross-training of colleagues to support service center and field functions.
What You’ll Bring:
- High School Diploma or GED is required; technical or trade school training is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with medical devices is required.
- Prior experience with FDA-regulated products is preferred.
- Previous driving/delivery experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in adapting to new technologies, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company and state standards is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT physical card is required.
- Schedule flexibility and on-call availability are necessary.
- Occasional overnight travel and overtime may be required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and resolve conflicts.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical information, including manuals and schematics.
- Ability to effectively present information both verbally and in writing to individuals and small groups.
