The "Shop Manager" oversees the operations and personnel at a facility managing approximately 460 truck units. This role includes supervision of Operations Supervisors, Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, Service Employees, and a Parts Responsible Person, all dedicated to supporting the operational needs of the location. The Shop Manager is expected to achieve results through hands-on involvement with limited delegation, ensuring that business objectives and labor requirements are effectively met.
The Shop Manager is responsible for fulfilling customer needs while simultaneously balancing financial, operational, quality, safety, and asset management targets as evaluated through leadership competencies and business metrics. The role involves managing location performance against established metrics to meet or exceed assigned objectives and ensuring compliance with key company processes, Standard Operating Procedures, and Standard Repair Practices. Adherence to all Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures is critical in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee work analysis, vehicle planning, scheduling assignments to technicians, productivity tracking, and optimizing shop operations through effective shift and meeting management.
- Engage in strategic labor planning by evaluating work demands, allocating resources, and balancing schedules to enhance efficiency.
- Ensure optimal utilization of labor and shift patterns in relation to customer operating hours.
Labor Management:
- Provide leadership and development to the management team, including Operations Manager, Operations Supervisors, Technicians In Charge, and Customer Service Coordinators.
- Conduct performance management for assigned personnel and execute the Technical Training Plan in collaboration with the Field Training Team.
Customer Management:
- Directly manage customer relationships, focusing on issue resolution, satisfaction, and retention while optimizing vehicle maintenance cycles.
- Partner with the Sales Team to scope potential business opportunities and secure growth within the existing customer base.
Financial Management:
- Involve in strategic financial planning by developing budgets, implementing cost-control measures, and managing the maintenance operations budget to achieve financial goals.
- Ensure accuracy and quality control for outsourced services and manage invoicing and payroll effectively.
Asset Management:
- Direct the management team on facility appearance and maintenance while ensuring compliance with 6S standards.
- Oversee vehicle specifications and manage the in-service/out-service process effectively.
Quality Management:
- Participate in quality planning, executing corrective actions for operational quality issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and EPA standards.
