The Care Promoter I, Market Float position is designed for an unlicensed medical professional who is cross-trained to execute routine administrative and clinical tasks that ensure our medical centers operate efficiently. The responsibilities of a Care Promoter Float may vary by location and facility type. In collaboration with our Physician-led Care Teams, the Care Promoter I plays a pivotal role in delivering outstanding and holistic primary care to a designated patient population.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure and record patient vital signs, along with documenting patient interviews and medical histories.
- Catalog and communicate patient needs to the Primary Care Physician (PCP), clinician, specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
- Prepare patients for examinations, conduct routine screening tests, assist physicians during exams, and explain treatment procedures and instructions to patients.
- Observe patients and report any changes in their conditions to the appropriate clinical personnel.
- Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures in accordance with medical directives. Collect phlebotomy and other laboratory specimens and execute basic waived lab tests.
- Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and carry out other first aid procedures under physician supervision, utilizing CPR skills when required.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, ensuring sterilization of instruments while adhering to OSHA safety standards; perform precise legal and ethical documentation consistently.
- Process incoming patient messages, returning calls and directing inquiries to relevant team members; contact patients to gather and relay essential information for the physician.
- With physician approval, call in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Employ appropriate medical terminology in communications, while consistently following legal and ethical professional standards; authorized individuals will utilize the ChenMed Rx system for medication dispensing support.
- Provide health coaching to a designated group of patients, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and conducting follow-up communications through weekly calls.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned, subject to modification at the manager’s discretion.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of medical products, terminology, services, standards, and procedures.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, coupled with a compassionate and empathetic approach toward patients and their families.
- Exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, accompanied by strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, including physicians, clinicians, market leaders, center managers, nurses, case managers, and front desk staff.
- A problem-solving mindset, focused on addressing patient needs and achieving team objectives.
- Proficient skills in basic phone and computer operations; attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reports and data.
- Capacity to implement and maintain effective organizational systems that facilitate timely patient flow.
- Ability to maintain composure in busy or high-stress situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, as well as various other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and presentation software.
- Willingness to travel locally and/or regionally up to 80% of the time to assist with coverage at other centers as required.
- Fluent spoken and written communication skills in English.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training (e.g., foreign-trained physician, paramedic) is required.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or in a similar role within a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment is required. Clinical rotation training may substitute for work experience.
- Experience with geriatric patients is preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross is required within the first 90 days of employment.
