Position Summary

  • The Foodservice Director oversees the foodservice program at a designated site, providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure compliance with food quality standards, inventory management, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations. This role involves adhering to facility menus and relevant regulatory standards while upholding established policies and procedures to guarantee consistent high-quality dining services.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment to be reported to HCSG and facility management.
  • Entrusted with all training, quality control, and in-servicing of staff, the Manager must regularly assess work quality through kitchen tours, utilizing Quality Control Indicators (QCIs) for documentation. Proficiency in essential job functions of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher is required to provide training and support in case of staff absences.
  • Effectively communicate directives from client managers and facility administrators to HCSG staff.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, including appropriate use of protective gear and proper handling of cleaning solutions. Responsibilities include timely reporting of equipment needs or malfunctions, adherence to safety and quality standards, and compliance with infection control and universal precautions.
  • Demonstrate punctuality through consistent attendance and timely completion of assigned duties, while actively responding to paging systems.
  • Uphold HCSG’s values by portraying a positive image through courteous interactions with supervisors, coworkers, and client personnel.
  • Foster positive and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Exhibit a positive attitude, capable of following both oral and written instructions while performing routine, repetitive tasks.
  • After successful completion of required training, utilize your leadership skills to independently accomplish responsibilities while ensuring safety.
  • An associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution, is preferred.
  • Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition is mandatory. Candidates are required to show proof of successful completion of an approved Conference of Food Protection (CFP) Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) course participation or certification as per state and county law is required.
  • Candidates must achieve eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within their first 60 days of employment.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in quantity food production/service, along with dining/nutrition and personnel supervision experience, is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary to maintain records and complete required reports, including web-based reporting.
  • Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies, as stipulated by state, local, and/or client requirements, is mandatory.
  • Physical capacity to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
  • Must be comfortable working in proximity to food and cleaning products.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
