Department: Dining Services

Summary
This position involves performing various food service tasks, including food preparation and production, customer service, equipment operation, and cashier responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of student food service workers in the designated area.
  2. Assist in training regular student employees, maintaining accurate records, and preparing necessary reports.
  3. Manage food ordering, student scheduling, inventory maintenance, and operation of electronic cash registers and card readers. Ensure timely transfer of funds to accounting.
  4. Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and safety protocols in the assigned area.
  5. Operate equipment used for the preparation and production of menu items, following established safety procedures and understanding recipe requirements.
  6. Execute catering tasks, including setup, serving, delivery, cleanup, and table service, while engaging with customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  7. Maintain knowledge of portion sizes and ingredients of served food items, adhering to the established uniform policy.
  8. Participate in necessary training to adapt to operational changes that impact assigned duties. Ensure proper garbage removal and cardboard recycling.
  9. Conduct physical inventories as directed by the supervisor, on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
  10. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee student assistants and other support staff, providing functional supervision as needed.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and abilities.

Required Experience

  • Experience in a food service operation, focusing on food production in commercial, institutional, restaurant, or hotel kitchens, or similar food service environments.
  • Prior experience in customer service.
