Summary
The role involves diverse responsibilities in food service, including food preparation and production, customer service, equipment operation, and cashier duties.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the activities of student food service workers in the assigned area.
- Assist in training and instructing regular student employees, while maintaining records and preparing any necessary reports.
- Manage food orders, student schedules, inventory, and operate electronic cash registers and card readers; transport cash to the accounting department.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are upheld in the assigned area.
- Operate all food preparation equipment while adhering to safety protocols and effectively interpret recipes.
- Carry out catering duties, which include setup, serving, delivery, cleaning, table service, and thorough clean-up, while maintaining friendly and courteous interactions with customers.
- Maintain knowledge regarding portion sizes, food items, and ingredients of the menu being served, and adhere to the current uniform policy.
- Engage in necessary training to adapt to operational changes affecting regular duties and oversee garbage removal and cardboard recycling within the assigned areas.
- Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly physical inventories as directed by the supervisor.
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide functional supervision over student assistants and other support staff as necessary.
Commit to continuous learning about improvement strategies and actively engage in relevant university initiatives.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and abilities.
Required Experience
- Experience in food service operations, specifically in food production within commercial, institutional, restaurant, or hotel kitchens.
