Department: AVPA Retail Dining

Summary
The role involves diverse responsibilities in food service, including food preparation and production, customer service, equipment operation, and cashier duties.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise the activities of student food service workers in the assigned area.
  2. Assist in training and instructing regular student employees, while maintaining records and preparing any necessary reports.
  3. Manage food orders, student schedules, inventory, and operate electronic cash registers and card readers; transport cash to the accounting department.
  4. Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are upheld in the assigned area.
  5. Operate all food preparation equipment while adhering to safety protocols and effectively interpret recipes.
  6. Carry out catering duties, which include setup, serving, delivery, cleaning, table service, and thorough clean-up, while maintaining friendly and courteous interactions with customers.
  7. Maintain knowledge regarding portion sizes, food items, and ingredients of the menu being served, and adhere to the current uniform policy.
  8. Engage in necessary training to adapt to operational changes affecting regular duties and oversee garbage removal and cardboard recycling within the assigned areas.
  9. Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly physical inventories as directed by the supervisor.
  10. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide functional supervision over student assistants and other support staff as necessary.
    Commit to continuous learning about improvement strategies and actively engage in relevant university initiatives.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and abilities.

Required Experience

  • Experience in food service operations, specifically in food production within commercial, institutional, restaurant, or hotel kitchens.
