Job description:
Department: AVPA Retail Dining

Summary
The role involves a variety of food service functions, including but not limited to food preparation, production, customer service, equipment operation, and cashier responsibilities.

Responsibilities
– Supervise the activities of student food service workers within the designated area.
– Assist in training and instructing regular student employees in the assigned area while maintaining accurate records and preparing necessary reports.
– Order food, schedule student workers, maintain inventory, and operate electronic cash registers and card readers. Additionally, responsible for transporting cash to accounting.
– Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety are upheld in the assigned area.
– Safely operate all equipment utilized in the preparation and production of menu items, while demonstrating the ability to understand and interpret recipes.
– Execute catering tasks such as setup, serving, delivering, cleaning, table service, and all aspects of cleanup while interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
– Maintain knowledge regarding portion sizes, food items, and the ingredients of items being served, adhering to the current uniform policy as posted.
– Participate in training necessary to accommodate operational changes that directly impact regular assigned duties. Responsible for garbage removal and cardboard recycling in designated areas.
– Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly physical inventories in specified areas as assigned by the supervisor.
– SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May exercise functional supervision over student assistants and other support staff.
– Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and actively engage in universitywide continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
– A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and abilities.

Required Experience
– Experience in a food service operation, specifically in food production within a commercial, institutional, restaurant, or hotel kitchen, or a similar food service environment.
– Experience in customer service.
