Department: AVPA Retail Dining

Summary
The role involves engaging in various aspects of food service, encompassing food preparation, production, customer service, equipment operation, and cashier responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise the activities of student food service workers within the assigned area.
  2. Assist in the training and orientation of regular student employees in the designated area. Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports as necessary.
  3. Manage food ordering, student scheduling, inventory maintenance, and operation of electronic cash registers and card readers. Ensure financial transactions are accurately processed and submitted to accounting.
  4. Uphold standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the assigned area.
  5. Operate all equipment required for the preparation and production of menu items, adhering to established safety procedures and accurately interpreting recipes.
  6. Undertake catering responsibilities, including setup, service, delivery, cleaning, table service, and comprehensive cleanup. Maintain friendly and courteous interactions with customers.
  7. Stay informed on portion sizes, food items, and ingredients of the foods being served. Adhere to the established uniform policy.
  8. Engage in necessary training to accommodate operational changes that directly impact assigned duties. Responsible for waste removal and cardboard recycling in assigned areas.
  9. Conduct regular physical inventories in designated areas as assigned by a supervisor.
  10. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide functional supervision over student assistants and support staff as needed.

Commit to continuous improvement strategies and actively participate in university initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience

  • Experience in food service operations involving food production within a commercial, institutional, restaurant, hotel kitchen, or similar food service environment.
  • Proven experience in customer service.
