We are actively seeking a part-time Food Service Worker/Cashier to join our team.
Location: East Lansing Public Schools – 509 Burcham Drive, East Lansing, MI 48823. Please note that only online applications will be accepted.
Schedule: This is a part-time position, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
Requirements: Prior experience in food service is preferred.

Compensation: The hourly pay ranges from $15.00 to $16.00.

Job Summary: The Food Service Worker/Cashier will perform cashiering duties alongside general food service tasks, while maintaining sanitation standards across preparation, service, and dining areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, as well as weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
- Safely transport food items, such as pans and trays, between workstations, the stove, and the refrigerator, while distributing supplies and utensils as necessary.
- Properly store food in accordance with safety procedures regarding wrapping, dating, and food rotation.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and utensils in compliance with sanitation standards.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation requirements at all times.
- Utilize approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality meals, appropriate serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to customers, following established service protocols.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and service-oriented manner.
- Communicate relevant information to supervisors as needed.
- Execute sales transactions accurately in the cash register, ensuring correct recording of purchases.
- Provide change and accept various forms of payment, including declining balance cards.
- Issue receipts to customers and follow procedures for cash refunds.
- Manage assigned cash funds and receipts, ensuring compliance with overage/shortage standards.
- Restock condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining a clean service area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
