Michigan Outpatient Surgical Solutions is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Front Desk/Surgery Scheduler. Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Business Office Manager, the Scheduler plays a critical role in maintaining the surgery schedule and overseeing all facets of the scheduling process. This role also involves assisting with insurance verification as necessary. The Scheduler will be responsible for strategizing, problem-solving, and delivering exemplary customer service while coordinating with scheduling representatives from healthcare providers and Operating Room personnel. The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding telephone etiquette, as this position handles communications integral to ensuring quality and continuity of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and organize work responsibilities effectively.
  • Coordinate with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling coverage.
  • Utilize procedure codes accurately to facilitate proper billing.
  • Verify the accuracy of information entered into the system, including patient names, dates of birth, gender, and insurance details.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork for patient procedures is received by the appropriate staff.
  • Communicate any changes to the schedule to the relevant personnel.
  • Ensure all required fields in Advantx are completed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operating Room director to prevent conflicts regarding equipment or supplies.
  • Notify administration of newly scheduled doctors or procedures.
  • Complete consent forms and verify their accuracy before submission to the chart builder.
  • Foster positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians, and nursing staff throughout the scheduling process.
  • Participate in cross-training with other areas of the business office.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
