As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality and success of daily operations at Goldfish Swim School. This includes managing staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending departments, private party operations, and employee engagement activities. Your role will involve achieving the financial objectives outlined in the annual budget by effectively motivating, leading, and supervising a dedicated team of employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration/Organization:
- Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Direct and control daily operations to ensure compliance with GSS standard operating procedures.
- Communicate and implement company policies and procedures to staff members.
- Manage the GSS team to guarantee high productivity, excellent performance, and positive employee morale.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and hiring processes to attract top-tier talent.
Leadership/Motivation:
- Act as a role model for employees and uphold the company’s values.
- Conduct weekly meetings with the management team to facilitate effective communication.
- Oversee, support, and develop a staff of 30-60 employees.
- Initiate and supervise employee engagement initiatives (“Fun” Department) aimed at enhancing job satisfaction.
Sales and Revenue Management:
- Exhibit strong leadership capabilities to motivate and direct the sales team.
- Meet and exceed established sales and enrollment targets.
- Drive revenue growth by fostering an actively engaged workforce.
- Ensure front desk staff possesses in-depth knowledge of our premier learn-to-swim programs.
Financial Management:
- Demonstrate proficiency in budgeting and financial reporting.
- Establish controls for expenses and oversee the procurement of supplies.
- Maintain expenses within budgetary constraints.
- Convey variances in revenue, sales, and expenses as compared to the budget.
- Provide guidance in the retail and vending operations to ensure optimal product mix and pricing.
- Manage staff scheduling and payroll responsibilities.
Safety:
- Oversee the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and related safety procedures within the GSS facility. Ensure all staff receive training on the EAP.
- Maintain up-to-date certifications and stay informed on trends in aquatics and management.
- Attain a comprehensive understanding of GSS pool operations to uphold a safe and sanitary swim environment.
Operations:
- Train and oversee staff to ensure adherence to GSS standard operating procedures.
- Address personnel-related challenges following company policies and documentation.
- Collaborate with Deck Supervisors on matters concerning class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and employee development.
- Gain expertise in scheduling software to achieve competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting, and administrative tasks.
Customer Service:
- Foster a professional and welcoming environment that enhances service quality for GSS families.
Measurement Standards:
- Successfully manage all financial budgetary objectives.
- Prioritize membership retention strategies.
- Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
This role requires a willingness to work on-site at the Staten Island location and may require availability for weekend and weeknight shifts.
