Job description:

GSWO is seeking a skilled and passionate Girl Experience Program Manager to join our Cincinnati team. At Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, our mission is centered around the girls, and our programs are uniquely crafted by, with, and for them. The Program Manager plays a crucial role in designing and leading opportunities that enrich the girl experience, offering engaging and challenging activities that foster learning, growth, and empowerment. These opportunities include badges, awards, outdoor and camping experiences, community service initiatives where girls take action in their communities, and exciting field trips and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong enthusiasm for working with youth, building and nurturing community and corporate partnerships, and orchestrating events that promote girl leadership empowerment. Please note that programs are typically conducted during evenings and weekends, so candidates must be available for regular evening and weekend work.

The primary objective of this position is to design and oversee programs and events that align with our organization’s mission while supporting our strategic goals. This includes ensuring that program milestones and budgetary guidelines are met. The Program Manager will also be responsible for building community partnerships and developing resources that enhance the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage a strategic, multi-year, data-driven plan to ensure the continued success of council initiatives and priorities.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate council-sponsored events for girls in grades K-12, aligned with strategic planning, organizational goals, and Girl Scout outcomes.
  • Cultivate and oversee a portfolio of high-quality community-based partnerships, guiding external organizations to align their programs with the Girl Scouts of the USA National Program.
  • Manage volunteer-led programs and administrative committees to support member retention and the strategic goals of the Girl Scouts.
  • Provide support for the administration of volunteer-led day camps, including risk management, financial oversight, and program processes.
  • Oversee the budgeting for council-sponsored events and initiatives to meet revenue targets and manage expenses effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management policies as outlined in Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • Support the Program team and department as requested.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, primarily scheduled from Monday through Friday, with frequent work on Saturdays and occasional evening and Sunday commitments. Work hours may vary depending on service unit needs and time of year.

Travel:
The role requires regular travel within assigned geographic areas of the council, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort in working with youth is essential.
  • Proven experience in program management, specifically in creating, leading, and implementing community-based programs, is required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Availability for evening and weekend work is essential. Candidates must possess a valid state driver’s license and have access to a functioning vehicle for travel within the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio region. Successful completion of fingerprinting and a criminal background check is mandated by Ohio law. A commitment to positively impacting girls’ lives, as outlined in the organization’s Ends statements and mission goals for girls, is expected.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this role are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform essential job functions. While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands for handling or feeling are required, along with the ability to reach with hands and arms. Employees must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
