This role emphasizes building relationships with corporate clients, and event planners to secure bookings for various events, including meetings, trade show business and special events. Coordinates sales contracts, process sales kits, and coordinate distribution of coupons, brochures and hotel room packages. Operates with little supervision and acts as resource to other levels for problem resolution.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
  • Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
  • Maintains knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
  • Identify potential corporate clients, and event planners through research and networking.
  • Performs sales calls and site visits, lunch and dinner meetings coordinating and executing potential client visits and tours of Odawa Casino Resort facilities; some travel will be necessary.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for group clients, ensuring their needs are met and their events are executed to the highest standard.
  • Takes sales calls through electronic media and responds to messages and correspondence in a timely and expeditious manner.
  • Work cohesively with the Executive Restaurant & Bar Manager and the Executive Chef to coordinate and execute special events as necessary; assist guests in arranging banquets, luncheons, meetings, parties and other social events and then generate necessary BEOs.
  • Coordinates execution of events, including F&B needs, staffing needs, AV requirements, set up and tear down and other logistical details.
  • Maintains a group “Master” calendar with all dates of planned events.
  • Cross train to provide backup F&B Services Supervisor assistance as needed.
  • Provides onsite assistance during all scheduled events to ensure the event runs smoothly and all needs are met.
  • Inputs Sales information into Hotel Property Management System (PMS) including group blocks, hotel packages and banquet event orders (BEOs) as required.
  • Coordinates with Hotel Front Desk to provide clients with negotiated room blocks.
  • Receives and processes deposits, group sales revenue and contracts.
  • Develops and distributes sales packets, rack cards and brochures to appropriate distribution centers, databases and interested parties.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate records of sales activity, including number of site visits and results, incoming correspondence and responses including timing and reporting accurate measurement of sales activity results.
  • Processes sales information and disseminates it to appropriate departments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develops and compiles guest survey information to further the reputation of OCR Group Sales business.
  • Adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Ensure completion of daily activities for assigned responsibilities.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Complete all required training satisfactorily.
  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • May work at other properties as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of the position

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of group sales/event coordinator experience in a resort or casino setting.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent computer software skills, including Microsoft Office and current social media; knowledge of resort property management systems is preferred, and ability to quickly learn specialized software packages.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, stretch and reach.
  • Must be flexible with shifts and days off with the ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and special events, etc., as needed.
  • You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to loud and smoky work environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission, and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
