As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
– Reporting to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior, while operating under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assisting patients with personal hygiene to maintain their dignity.
– Helping to create and sustain a safe, healthy living environment.
– Preparing and serving light meals.
– Providing assistance with feeding and ambulation as required.
– Aiding in the safe use of mobility aids as instructed by nursing staff.
– Performing light housekeeping duties such as replacing linens and managing waste.
– Supporting treatment activities as outlined in the aide plan of care, compliant with state regulations.
– Engaging patients in activities to foster mental stimulation and alertness.
– Offering basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
– Communicating any changes in the patient’s condition or home environment to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team.
– Training primary caregivers in basic care techniques.
– Implementing infection control measures and maintaining standard precautions.
– Documenting visits and care activities accurately and timely.
– Participating in staff meetings and engaging in annual Quality Improvement activities as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:
– A genuine passion for hospice care, demonstrating compassion, kindness, and empathy towards patients and their families.
– The ability to provide care in various settings, including the patient’s own home.
– Flexibility and poise in supporting others during crisis situations.
– A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology is strongly preferred.
– Additional relevant experience in a hospital setting (e.g., Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, ER, critical care) is advantageous.
– A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
– A current CPR certification.
