As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
– Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior, while operating under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor
– Assisting patients in maintaining good personal hygiene and a safe, healthy living environment
– Preparing and serving light meals and assisting with feeding when necessary
– Aiding patients in ambulation and facilitating the safe use of walkers or wheelchairs
– Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as emptying trash and changing linens
– Assisting with designated treatments in accordance with state regulations and the aide care plan
– Encouraging patients’ mental alertness through engaging activities
– Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families
– Communicating any changes in the patient’s condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team
– Educating primary caregivers on basic care practices
– Implementing infection control measures and practicing standard precautions
– Maintaining accurate documentation related to visit itineraries
– Attending staff meetings and participating in at least one Quality Improvement activity annually as assigned
– Completing documentation in a timely manner, as outlined during orientation

About You:
Requirements for Hospice Aide/CNA candidates include:
– A genuine hospice heart characterized by compassion, kindness, and empathy towards patients and their families
– Comfort in providing care in the patient’s home environment
– Ability to remain flexible and composed while supporting others in crisis situations
– Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
– A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology settings is strongly preferred
– Additional valuable experience in hospital staff roles such as RN, Med Surg, PACU, ER, critical care, or similar will contribute to your success in this hospice role
– Current driver’s license and automobile insurance
– Up-to-date CPR certification
