As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

– Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager Senior, and operating under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assisting patients in maintaining personal hygiene.
– Contributing to the upkeep of a safe and healthy living environment.
– Preparing and serving light meals.
– Assisting with patient feeding when necessary.
– Aiding patients in ambulation as needed.
– Supporting the safe use of walkers or wheelchairs, under nurse supervision.
– Executing light housekeeping tasks, such as emptying trash and changing linens.
– Assisting with specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care and as permissible by state regulations.
– Encouraging patient engagement in activities that promote mental alertness.
– Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
– Reporting any changes in a patient’s physical or mental condition to the Registered Nurse and the interdisciplinary team.
– Demonstrating basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
– Adhering to infection control policies and standard precautions.
– Ensuring accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
– Participating in staff meetings and completing documentation in a timely manner.
– Engaging in at least one Quality Improvement activity on an annual basis as assigned by the supervisor.

The ideal candidate for the Hospice Aide/CNA position will possess:

– A valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– A minimum of six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology settings is strongly preferred.
– Additional preferred experience that may foster success in a hospice setting includes hospital experience as a Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, in a float pool, emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac care, geriatric care, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home care, or travel nursing.
– A current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
– A current CPR certification.
