In your role as a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
– Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Senior Patient Care Manager, functioning under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assisting patients in maintaining good personal hygiene and a safe, healthy environment.
– Preparing and serving light meals and aiding patients with feeding when necessary.
– Supporting patients in ambulation, including safe use of mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs.
– Performing light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
– Assisting with specific treatments as defined in the aide plan of care, adhering to state regulations.
– Encouraging mental alertness in patients through engaging activities.
– Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and family members.
– Reporting any changes in patient condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team.
– Demonstrating basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
– Adhering to infection control measures and standard precautions.
– Maintaining accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
– Attending staff meetings and participating in at least one yearly Quality Improvement activity as assigned.
– Completing documentation in a timely manner as outlined during orientation.
We seek candidates for the Hospice Aide/CNA role who possess:
– A compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine “hospice heart” for patient care.
– Comfort in providing care in diverse living environments.
– The ability to remain flexible and composed in crisis situations.
– A current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– A minimum of six months of experience in patient care within hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology settings. Preferred experience may include roles such as hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER, critical care, acute care, cardiac, nursing home, or travel.
– A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
– Current CPR certification.
