As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
– Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager, while functioning under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assisting patients with maintaining good personal hygiene.
– Contributing to a safe and healthy environment.
– Preparing and serving light meals to patients.
– Assisting in feeding patients when necessary.
– Aiding patients with ambulation.
– Supporting the safe use of mobility aids as instructed and supervised by nursing staff.
– Performing light housekeeping duties, such as emptying trash and changing linens.
– Assisting with specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care and permitted by state regulations.
– Encouraging patient engagement through activities of interest to promote mental alertness.
– Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
– Communicating any changes in the patient’s physical or mental condition to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team members.
– Demonstrating basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
– Adhering to infection control measures and standard precautions.
– Documenting visit itineraries accurately.
– Attending staff meetings and participating in at least one annual Quality Improvement activity as assigned by a supervisor.
– Completing documentation in accordance with orientation guidelines and in a timely manner.
About You:
Hospice Aide/CNA Requirements:
– A compassionate heart, demonstrating kindness and empathy towards patients and their families.
– Willingness to provide care in various home environments.
– Ability to remain flexible and composed while supporting individuals in crisis situations.
– Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– Six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology is strongly preferred.
– Additional related experience in hospital staff RN roles, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER, critical care, acute care, cardiac, or nursing home settings may enhance your candidacy.
– A current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
– Valid CPR certification.
