As a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
– Reporting directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Senior Patient Care Manager, with oversight from the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assisting patients in maintaining good personal hygiene.
– Supporting the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment.
– Preparing and serving light meals.
– Aiding in patient feeding when necessary.
– Assisting patients with mobility and ambulation.
– Guiding patients in the safe use of walkers or wheelchairs as instructed by nursing staff.
– Performing light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
– Assisting with specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care in accordance with state regulations.
– Encouraging patient engagement in activities of interest to promote mental alertness.
– Providing basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
– Reporting any changes in patients’ mental or physical condition, or home environment, to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team.
– Demonstrating basic care techniques to primary caregivers.
– Practicing infection control measures and standard precautions.
– Ensuring accurate documentation of visit itineraries.
– Participating in staff meetings and engaging in at least one Quality Improvement activity annually, as designated by a supervisor.
– Completing documentation in a timely manner as outlined in the orientation.

About You
Hospice Aide/CNA Requirements:
– A compassionate, kind, and empathetic disposition towards patients and their families.
– Comfort in delivering care in diverse home environments.
– The ability to remain flexible and composed while assisting others during crises.
– A valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatrics, or oncology is strongly preferred.
– Additional preferred experience may include hospital nursing roles in Med Surg, PACU, Float Pool, ER, critical care, acute care, cardiac care, geriatrics, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home, or travel nursing.
– A current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
– Current CPR certification.
