Job Title: Housekeeper

Company: Atria Senior Living

Location: Flint, MI

Pay: $13 – 14.95 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $13 to $14.95 for a Housekeeper in Flint, MI, is somewhat below the national average, which typically ranges from $15 to $20 per hour, depending on experience and specific job responsibilities. In Michigan, wages for housekeeping roles vary by region, but offering rates within this range may not be highly competitive, especially given the rising cost of living and general wage increases seen in many areas. As of 2023, this pay scale may not attract a large pool of qualified candidates, particularly when considering that some employers are offering higher wages and benefits to retain staff in a tight labor market. Overall, while the rate is within the lower range for entry-level housekeeping positions, it may need to be adjusted to better align with current industry standards and local job market conditions.

Job description:

In the capacity of Housekeeper, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the community’s interior, including residents’ apartments, while delivering service in a courteous and friendly manner.

Housekeeping Responsibilities

  • Carry out general housekeeping duties for both the community and individual resident apartments, including, but not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning key areas such as the main entryway, common spaces, dining room, hallways, patios, and the resident apartments.
  • In resident apartments, responsibilities also encompass cleaning and defrosting refrigerators (as necessary), inspecting and cleaning heat system filters, changing beds and linens, and ensuring each apartment is adequately stocked with linen supplies. Additionally, assist with mattress turning when required and empty waste baskets.
  • Conduct deep cleaning of apartments as required, with particular attention to the main entry area, including carpets, plants, pictures, railings, windows, and light fixtures.
  • Manage the laundering of all linens within the provided laundry facilities.
  • Adhere strictly to the company’s sanitation and safety protocols.

Server Responsibilities

  • Welcome residents and guests at each table with a smile while serving beverages, cereals, and/or soups/salads from the cart.
  • Courteously and clearly present the meal menu, take resident orders, and serve meals and desserts promptly.
  • Return the cart to the kitchen and assist with the storage of perishable items; if necessary, deliver trays to resident rooms.
  • Clear and bus tables after meals, resetting them for the next service while following sanitizing procedures for tables and chairs according to the Food Service Guidelines. Vacuum carpets and ensure cleanliness in dining areas.
  • Perform side duties, such as refilling sugar holders, replenishing creamers, and cleaning the coffee maker.
  • Undertake additional tasks as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English, facilitating interactions with employees and residents.
  • General understanding of sanitation and safe food handling practices.
