The HVAC Branch Manager will take the lead in supervising technicians who are responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial clients. This individual will work closely with service and installation technicians, dispatch personnel, and other managers to ensure exceptional customer service while meeting departmental objectives. Acting as a senior representative of the company, the Branch Manager will frequently communicate directly with customers, vendors, and suppliers to provide clear updates on job status and requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:
– Conducting interviews, screenings, and evaluations of HVAC technicians to meet operational demands.
– Scheduling, directing, and providing technical support to HVAC technicians to fulfill service requirements and customer expectations.
– Reviewing technician performance, work techniques, and safety compliance to ensure adherence to quality standards, while recommending improvements to enhance quality and productivity.
– Identifying staff training needs and orchestrating a consistent training program to ensure technicians are well-versed in the latest service techniques and safety protocols.
– Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, policies, and practices, while overseeing staff safety training and adherence.
– Conducting performance appraisals for staff and establishing improvement goals in line with company standards.
– Collaborating with technicians in the field to address customer and technician concerns efficiently.
– Maintaining regular communication with dispatch to ensure optimal personnel scheduling based on skill level, efficiency, and training needs.
– Daily reporting to dispatch on project progress, estimated completion times, labor hours, and materials used.
– Reviewing work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy while managing minimal accounts receivables.
– Developing and monitoring budgets, goals, and objectives to ensure departmental profitability.
– Engaging with vendors and factory representatives regarding warranty claims, product recalls, operational issues, and other relevant matters.
– Monitoring the condition of assigned service vehicles to ensure compliance with company policies and maintaining an adequate inventory of parts and materials.
Qualifications for this position include:
– A minimum of 5 years of recent management experience in HVAC and refrigeration service.
– Preferred completion of two years of technical training or a bachelor’s degree.
– Proficiency in performing advanced maintenance and service on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
– Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with an aptitude for learning new software.
– EPA Universal Certification.
– A valid driver’s license.
– Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
– Detail-oriented and highly organized approach, capable of managing multiple tasks and assignments.
– Ability to develop innovative ideas and processes to enhance the service department’s growth.
– Competence in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
– Strong collaborative skills, able to work effectively with management, executive leadership, support staff, and technicians.
– Flexibility to work a non-standard schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays when required.
