Job description:

This position involves the analysis, development, testing, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of a diverse range of hardware platforms, network server operating systems, backup and recovery systems, storage infrastructure, and enterprise services such as email, directory services, and enterprise monitoring systems for clients of the Department of Technology, Management & Budget, as well as end-users of the State of Michigan.

The Department of Technology Management and Budget supports the operational needs of state agencies through various services, which include building management and maintenance, information technology services, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of state retirement systems.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office is located in Dimondale, MI. The State of Michigan is unable to offer employment to out-of-state applicants who do not intend to relocate. Currently, the Department of Technology Management and Budget offers a hybrid work model that requires employees to work on-site two days a week and allows three days of remote work.

Signing Bonus: This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500, with $1,250 payable upon hire and the remaining balance awarded after the completion of the initial probationary period of 12 months. Please note that this bonus does not apply to current state employees.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: For the Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 position, a Bachelor’s degree is required, including 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or more of the following areas: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.

  • Experience: No specific type or amount of experience is required.

Alternate Education and Experience:
For the Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 role, candidates may also qualify with an associate’s degree (16 semester (24 term) credits in relevant fields) coupled with two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant can substitute for the educational requirements.

Alternatively, individuals who have completed high school and have four years of experience in the aforementioned roles, or four years (8,320 hours) as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be eligible.
