Job description:

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Technology team in our Columbus office. All team members adhere to a “Client First” philosophy, aiming to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the firm’s Windows and Azure environments, ensuring consistent design, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance of Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other essential services. Safeguard best practices and security protocols for all functionalities of Active Directory and Azure AD, including the management of user objects, groups, permissions, external federation, and data synchronization.
  • Oversee administration, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the complete IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security and best practice standards for systems, including both physical and virtual servers, storage systems, data protection solutions, private/public cloud, networking equipment, access and environmental control systems, peripheral technology, monitoring systems, and communication systems.
  • Assist with the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of datacenter networking and equipment necessary for server and storage operations.
  • Support the implementation of data protection policies, following specified data retention and recovery requirements by configuring, implementing, and maintaining platforms such as Cohesity and Veeam, along with underlying storage replication technologies, including Pure, Isilon, and VMware.
  • Monitor IT equipment to respond swiftly to incidents, troubleshooting and resolving issues to prevent outages or data loss resulting from hardware failures, configuration issues, firmware updates, security incidents, performance problems, and user-reported issues or escalations from internal teams.
  • Apply patches, firmware updates, and OS upgrades in accordance with security best practices for all physical and virtual servers, storage resources, and other physical IT-related assets, including UPS systems, printing solutions, communication, and security systems.
  • Assist in the administration of remote access technologies and external connections to firm resources, including the design, deployment, securing, and lifecycle maintenance of Remote Desktop Services (RDS), ensuring robust authentication controls and security hardening across all systems. Participate in multifactor authentication integration and administration.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of the firm’s physical networking environment, including switches, routers, and firewalls, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Applications team and vendors for application installations and updates, ensuring adherence to security and best practice requirements.
  • Proactively identify system resource issues and facilitate planning for growth.
  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure projects, including storage, servers, virtualization, disaster recovery, email management, VOIP (Zoom), encryption, vulnerability management, and patch management.
  • Ensure that all design, deployment, configuration, and upgrades are conducted with thorough testing, preparation, and support, while creating and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the process.
  • Confirm that all scheduled operational and maintenance tasks are executed accurately and punctually, with proper documentation.
  • Comply with all IT Department standards and Firm Information Security Policies, including change control and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in decommissioning firm hardware, ensuring secure data erasure from all resources ahead of proper e-waste recycling.
  • Provide timely in-house escalation support, adhering to ticketing procedures and SLA requirements, applying troubleshooting and problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant areas through ongoing education and participation in industry seminars or organizations.

Requirements:

  • Capability to travel to and occasionally work on-site at the firm’s current and future datacenter locations, primarily in South Central Ohio and on a limited basis in Arizona.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant education, training, experience, or IT certifications demonstrating the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Server environments, encompassing Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and ADFS.
  • Experience in hardware maintenance throughout its lifecycle, including implementation and decommissioning, utilizing equipment from vendors such as Dell, Cisco, and HP.
  • Familiarity with various storage technologies, including Pure, Dell EMC (Isilon), and IBM, alongside cloud storage solutions such as Wasabi and Azure.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting IT infrastructure services.
  • Desired experience with Exchange, Isilon, and VMware administration.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, including IP addressing, switches, FC zoning, and wireless management, preferably with Cisco equipment.
  • Familiarity with data protection platforms, including Cohesity and Veeam, and tools like SolarWinds.
  • Desired certifications from Microsoft, VMware, and Cisco.
  • Experience with helpdesk ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow or Service Desk Plus.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; experience in a law firm setting is preferred.
