Job Title: Intake Clinical Social Worker

Company: MP RPO

Location: Detroit, MI

Pay: $50000 – 60000 per year

AI Pay Analysis: The annual salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 for an Intake Clinical Social Worker in Detroit, MI, translates to approximately $24 to $29 per hour, which is generally on the lower end of competitive pay for similar roles. According to industry standards and data from sources like the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and local job postings, social workers, particularly in clinical settings, often command higher salaries, especially in metropolitan areas like Detroit where the cost of living and demand for mental health services can lead to more competitive compensation. Therefore, while this salary range may be acceptable for entry-level positions or those in smaller organizations, it may not be competitive enough for experienced professionals or those working in larger healthcare systems.

Job description:

Crisis Clinicians are responsible for conducting crisis screenings for children aged 5 to 17, managing the crisis center phone line, and offering resources and guidance to families as needed. Upon arrival, clinicians will triage families by assessing the reason for the visit, explaining the crisis management process, and obtaining consent to provide treatment. Clients presenting at the crisis center often experience active suicidal or homicidal ideations, exhibit behaviors that may lead to self-harm or harm to others, display psychotic symptoms, or suffer from severe depression or anxiety that impedes their ability to safely function in home, school, or community environments.

Clinicians must assist families in navigating beyond the immediate crisis, fostering hope by identifying natural supports, coping strategies, and safety plans through the application of Motivational Interviewing, psychoeducation, active listening, mindfulness, and various other clinical techniques. In addition to performing crisis screenings to ascertain the required level of care, clinicians will consult with a psychiatrist when necessary, and will provide families with 24-hour and 7-day follow-up to check on the child’s progress.
