Job description:

Under general supervision, the successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks related to zone maintenance, vehicle receiving and shipping, inventory management, and maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute processes according to established work instructions and standardized practices.
  • Collaborate with team members on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in training new associates under the guidance of Inventory Associate II and/or management.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain daily lot cleanliness and security of display areas and work-in-progress zones.
  • Secure and receive vehicles shipped to CarMax.
  • Prepare vehicle and title packets for transfer to other locations.
  • Perform accurate scanning of vehicles to track product status.
  • Conduct washing and vacuuming of customer returns and loaner vehicles.
  • Perform front-lot washing duties.
  • Manage the Photo Station process.
  • Drive vehicles on and off the lot for repairs or storage.
  • Provide support to Auctions, if applicable.
  • Uphold workplace cleanliness and organization in accordance with CarMax’s 5S standards.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by Flow Inventory Associate IVs and managerial staff.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license and compliance with CarMax’s DSEPS standards.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and transcribing data to maintain precise records.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow processes as outlined in work instructions and standardized practices.
  • Completion of Inventory Associate Workstation Certifications and assigned training programs.
  • Physical capability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • The role encompasses both indoor and outdoor environments, which may involve exposure to noisy and/or inclement weather.
  • Flexible working hours are expected, with shifts potentially including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical demands include walking or standing for extended periods in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Company-provided CarMax attire must be worn at all times while on duty.
  • Compliance with all CarMax, OSHA, and EPA standards is required, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and appropriate waste disposal.
