Job description:

Under general supervision, the role is responsible for various operational tasks including zone maintenance, vehicle receiving and shipping, inventory scanning, vehicle movement both on and off the lot, lot washing and merchandising, as well as photo documentation for carmax.com. The individual will also deliver exceptional customer service.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute processes as outlined by established work instructions or standardized practices.
  • Engage in collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Assist in training new associates under the direction of an Inventory Associate II and/or the Manager.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain daily lot upkeep and secure the display and work-in-progress areas.
  • Receive and secure vehicles that arrive at CarMax.
  • Prepare vehicle and title packets for shipment to other locations.
  • Accurately complete vehicle scanning to reflect current product status.
  • Conduct washing and vacuuming of customer returns and loaner vehicles.
  • Perform front-lot washing.
  • Facilitate the Photo Station process.
  • Drive vehicles on and off the lot as required for repairs or storage.
  • Support Auctions, if applicable.
  • Uphold workplace cleanliness and organization in line with CarMax 5S standards.
  • Carry out duties as assigned by Flow Inventory Associate IVs and Managers.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Possession of a current driver’s license and adherence to CarMax DSEPS standards.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and transcribing data to maintain accurate records.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Capability to execute defined processes as per work instructions or standardized practices.
  • Completion of Inventory Associate Workstation Certifications and assigned Workday Learnings.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Engages in indoor and outdoor work environments, which may at times be noisy and/or subject to inclement weather conditions.
  • Flexible work hours are required; shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires walking or standing for extended periods in a high-energy, fast-paced setting.
  • Adherence to the CarMax dress code, including wearing company-issued attire while on duty.
  • Compliance with all CarMax, OSHA, and EPA standards, inclusive of Personal Protective Equipment usage and proper disposal of waste in designated areas.
