Job description:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for various tasks related to zone maintenance, vehicle receiving and shipping, inventory scanning, vehicle movement (both on- and off-lot), lot washing and merchandising, as well as taking and uploading photos to carmax.com. Exceptional customer service is also a key component of the role.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute processes as outlined in work instructions and/or standardized work.
  • Engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives with the team.
  • Assist in training new associates under the guidance of Inventory Associate II or the Manager.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Maintain daily lot upkeep and ensure the security of display areas and work-in-progress zones.
  • Secure and receive vehicles delivered to CarMax.
  • Prepare vehicle and title packets for shipment to other locations.
  • Conduct scanning of vehicles to ensure accurate product status.
  • Perform cleaning tasks for customer returns and loaner vehicles, including washing and vacuuming.
  • Complete front-lot washing duties.
  • Execute the Photo Station process.
  • Drive vehicles on and off the lot for repairs and storage.
  • Provide support for Auctions, if applicable.
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization in accordance with CarMax 5S standards.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by Flow Inventory Associate IVs and Management.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Possess a current driver’s license and meet the CarMax DSEPS standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Capability to execute defined processes as per work instructions and/or standardized procedures.
  • Completion of Inventory Associate Workstation Certifications and assigned workday learning modules.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environments, with the possibility of working in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • Flexible work hours, including shifts that may involve nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires extended periods of walking or standing in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Must wear CarMax-provided clothing while on duty.
  • Adhere to all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA standards, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and proper waste disposal.
