Position Summary
- Department Manager: Oversee the food service program at a single site, providing leadership, support, and direction to ensure adherence to food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations. This includes complying with facility menus, and applicable federal, state, and local standards, and ensuring that our established policies and procedures deliver quality dining services consistently.
- Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of income and expenditures, food, supplies, personnel, and equipment in a report format for HCSG and facility management.
- Training: Responsible for training and quality control, routinely assessing work quality and utilizing QCIs for documentation purposes. The ability to perform the essential functions of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher roles is necessary to train and assist during staff shortages.
- Communication: Effectively convey directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff.
- Safety: Utilize protective gear as required, ensure safe handling and mixing of cleaning solutions, and report equipment or cleaning product issues promptly. Maintain compliance with established safety standards and infection control procedures.
- Punctuality: Adhere to consistent attendance and punctuality, ensuring timely completion of cleaning tasks and responsiveness to paging systems.
- Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by adhering to guidelines and providing courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, coworkers, and client staff.
- Resident Experience: Foster positive, respectful, and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.
Qualifications
- Maintain a positive attitude with the capacity to follow verbal and written instructions and perform routine tasks consistently.
- After completing necessary training, demonstrate leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities without supervision and prioritize safety.
- Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution.
- Required specialized training in food service management and nutrition, with certification from an approved Conference of Food Protection (CFP) Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment.
- Participation in the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) course or equivalent certification as mandated by State and County laws.
- Achieve the eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
- Two years of experience in quantity food production/service, dining/nutrition, and personnel supervision is desirable.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for record maintenance and reports, including web-based reporting formats.
- Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Adherence to scheduled hours and timeliness is essential.
- Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies is mandatory, as determined by State, Local, and/or Customer requirements.
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods is necessary.
- Capability to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
- Ability to work in proximity to food and cleaning products is required.
- Residency within the service area is essential.
