Job Summary
The Steward is tasked with upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation for all china, glassware, and silverware, while also ensuring proper storage practices. This role involves assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining the cleanliness of both the kitchen and all storage areas. Key responsibilities include the thorough cleaning of equipment, utensils, and the physical work environment. Additionally, the Steward will assist in proper food storage and rotation practices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; prior experience in the hospitality industry or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Capacity to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action swiftly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Operate dishwasher equipment to ensure thorough cleaning of china, glassware, and silverware, adhering to sanitation standards.
  • Carefully store all cleaned items in their designated locations to minimize breakage.
  • Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following established cleanliness and sanitation protocols, ensuring proper storage afterwards.
  • Sweep and mop floors in both the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Empty waste from Food and Beverage areas into the hotel dumpster.
  • Keep the back dock and dumpster area clean and organized.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
  • Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally in an unsupervised capacity.
