Job description:
Lab Support Technician – Cincinnati, OH – Rotating Schedule – 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM (Rotational Weekends)

The Lab Support Technician performs a variety of technical and clerical functions under the supervision of their supervisor or designated personnel. Responsibilities may include order entry, specimen processing, patient testing (including Point of Care tests), and reporting results of waived and moderately complex tests in accordance with internal policies and CLIA guidelines. Upholding ethical and professional standards in line with established medical laboratory practices is essential.

Pay Range: $17.20+ per hour

Responsibilities:

General Duties:
– Comply with all OSHA, health, and safety standards.
– Adhere to MACL policies and procedures, including HR and Corporate Compliance/Integrity as a condition of employment.

– Organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks to achieve corporate objectives.

Processing Responsibilities:

– Conduct accurate specimen labeling.
– Employ appropriate processing techniques and maintain suitable specimen storage.
– Complete necessary documentation for processing, tracking, and troubleshooting.
– Ensure proper use of computer functions, including manual backup systems.
– Evaluate specimen integrity for the tests ordered and prioritize workload effectively.

Technical Responsibilities:
– Perform technical duties under the direct supervision of qualified personnel.
– Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of technical areas as assigned.
– Execute clerical functions including report management, patient chart handling, and registration.
– Carry out non-testing preventative maintenance as assigned and document outcomes.
– Report and document testing and non-testing quality control results as required.
– Manage additional technical tasks such as processing send-out tests and inventory management.
– Acquire and apply knowledge of all departmental computer systems.
– Ensure compliance with daily and periodic maintenance and QC tasks.

Testing Responsibilities:
– Conduct testing tasks under the direct supervision of qualified individuals.
– Document maintenance and quality control activities as trained.
– Execute waived and moderately complex testing and report results within established guidelines.
– Operate all instrumentation as trained, ensuring maintenance and quality control.
– Prepare and stain slides as necessary and manage the issuance of blood components for transfusions.

Preferred Work Experience:
One year of experience in a hospital or laboratory setting is preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to routinely lift 25 pounds; capable of prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Education:
