This role is based in our Tipp City, OH facility within the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business focuses on developing science-based nutrition products for individuals across all ages, ensuring that millions globally can depend on our reputable brands—such as Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna®—to secure the nutrients necessary for healthy living. What You’ll Work On
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Sampling and testing incoming raw materials and commodities to ensure adherence to quality procedures, specifications, and quality guidelines.
- Implementing and maintaining the efficacy of the quality system, including managing commodity lot trace file labels, Kosher schedule A updates, and Kosher schedule B compliance for new ingredients.
- Conducting proper sampling of ingredients and packaging materials and managing certified supplier quarterly and annual monitoring as needed.
- Performing ingredient analysis and physical evaluation of packaging materials according to defined testing procedures.
- Overseeing the scheduling and release of ingredients and packaging materials.
- Conducting minor troubleshooting of laboratory equipment with limited supervision.
- Identifying and reporting method deviations, out-of-specification conditions, or other anomalies to supervisory staff.
- Inputting quality data into quality and inventory management systems, including MITS, AMAPS, and LIMS.
- Managing the hold process for commodities, maintaining a comprehensive hold list and facilitating final dispositions through destruction or release as warranted.
- Submitting Supplier Event Notifications to Supplier Quality Assurance and relevant plant personnel.
- Engaging in routine collaboration with inventory planning, materials management, and plant Quality Engineers to ensure timely evaluation and release of ingredients and packaging materials required for production, while also addressing defects.
- Updating plant procedures to comply with new policies and accurately reflect operational practices.
You will be accountable for adhering to compliance standards established by the FDA, OSHA, and Abbott’s internal policies and procedures.
Shift
This position operates from 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday through Wednesday, with training following orientation conducted during day shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM from Tuesday to Friday.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of at least one year of college-level science (e.g., chemistry) with associated lab work and one year of college math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus), or a B.S. or B.A. degree in a scientific or technical field.
- Capability to perform sensory evaluations, including taste tests for products to assess flavor, texture, aroma, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Math, or a closely related technical field.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and requirements related to nutritionals.
