Job description:
The Lead Technical Analyst is primarily responsible for the design and configuration of the Alation Data Catalog to effectively meet the needs of KeyBank’s associates. This role emphasizes enhancing the efficiency of analysts in their pursuit to locate, comprehend, and utilize data. The Lead Technical Analyst will be an integral member of an agile squad, closely collaborating with business stakeholders, data consumers, data producers, and the data engineering team to refine the usability of data through coordinated efforts in data lineage, business definitions, and data quality, thereby creating an exceptional catalog experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
– Define, develop, and implement Alation data catalog functionality to address the needs of broader data management programs and ongoing initiatives.
– Lead the technical solution design and development of a comprehensive suite of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting objects, including data models, Python scripts/data pipelines, stored procedures, and Tableau dashboards that meet catalog platform and cross-program requirements.
– Support the technical integration of Alation with enterprise systems that contain critical data lineage or data quality information.
– Utilize programming languages such as Python and platform APIs to design and develop custom workflows and integrations with other systems to automate data management processes.
– Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Alation as they arise.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
– A minimum of 5 years of end-to-end BI development experience, encompassing design/architecture, data engineering, data warehousing, and visualization/reporting layers.
– Strong proficiency in designing and developing relational data models, PL/SQL stored procedures, and SQL querying.
– Intermediate skills in Python for automating system integrations with APIs and workflows.
– Familiarity with data catalogs and their respective capabilities, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, business lineage, technical lineage, and data management workflows.
– Hands-on experience onboarding technical and functional metadata from various sources, including cloud data platforms, traditional RDBMS systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle), and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms (e.g., Tableau).
– Understanding of cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (preferred), Azure, or AWS.
– Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teams and vendors to resolve issues.
– Strong presentation skills with the capability to communicate effectively at all levels of the enterprise.
