Job description:
This position will support all 12 brands within Great Day Home Improvement. We are seeking a Learning and Development Specialist who will be responsible for the design and facilitation of effective training programs across the organization. The ideal candidate will assist in the creation of learning content aimed at enhancing the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies in an engaging manner. Additionally, the Learning and Development Specialist will oversee the operations of the organization’s learning management system. The successful candidate will possess strong decision-making capabilities and provide data-driven recommendations to inform the company’s instructional strategies. This role requires expertise in curriculum design and will involve close collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) to address challenges and make informed decisions. This position is remote and available to candidates in Ohio, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Florida.

Essential Functions:
– Serve as the primary contact for general inquiries related to UFactor, directing requests as necessary, and assisting stakeholders with event registration, course completion, and technical requirements.
– Develop engaging and interactive learning experiences, instructional materials, and curriculum that strengthen knowledge retention and transfer.
– Collaborate with subject matter experts to assess the training needs of target audiences.
– Partner in the development of training programs that promote company culture, foster pride in our products, and contribute to retention efforts.
– Work collaboratively to automate, innovate, and streamline processes to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness, with a focus on digital applicability.
– Organize and plan events that support learning and development initiatives.
– Help define instructional goals and produce content that aligns with these objectives.
– Create visuals for instructional graphics, user interfaces, and final products.
– Conduct research and analysis of learners and their contexts to inform instructional design.
– Apply proven instructional design theories, practices, and methodologies.
– Develop exercises and activities that enrich the learning experience.
– Produce supportive media materials such as audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games.
– Establish evaluation criteria for assessing learner performance and create corresponding assessment tools.
– Maintain comprehensive project documentation and course materials.
– Analyze learning data and feedback for the continuous improvement of instructional content and learner engagement.
– Manage multiple instructional design projects concurrently, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
– Stay informed about current trends in learning and development as well as learning management systems.
– Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
– Strong understanding of learning theories and instructional design models.
– Proficient in lesson and project planning.
– Demonstrated knowledge of course development software and familiarity with at least one Learning Management System.
– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; self-motivated with strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
– Capacity to influence others and foster a results-oriented collaborative environment.
– Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to produce effective instructional text and scripts for audio and video content.

Education and Experience:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
– Experience with learning platforms is preferred.
– Proficiency with Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Elucidat, or other instructional design platforms is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
– Ability to perform prolonged periods of work sitting at a computer.
