Job Title: Library Starbucks Store Assistant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Library Starbucks Store Assistant to assist and oversee student and support employees in executing various Barista roles in alignment with Starbucks standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating Barista certification training and ongoing Starbucks certifications, mastering 100+ food and beverage codes and recipes, maintaining brand-specific equipment, managing retail and food store orders through multiple vendors, and maintaining frozen and dry inventory. This position will require flexibility, as responsibilities may rotate between the 1855 location and the Library Starbucks based on operational needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver unique handcrafted beverages and food items in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Assist in the training, onboarding, and certification of new baristas.
  • Lead and support baristas in accordance with Starbucks Training Guidelines.
  • Efficiently operate and maintain a cash register, including handling cash, credit, combo exchanges, and Starbucks gift cards.
  • Manage daily inventory and ordering processes with various vendors to meet business demands.

Critical Position Requirement:
All positions within the Student Life and Engagement (SLE) area are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure or modification of operations due to snow or other emergencies, incumbents are expected to make reasonable efforts to report to work as scheduled during any closures or suspensions. Employees with an approved remote work agreement may be called upon to work on-site to support the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of food ingredients and appropriate preparation and serving techniques.
  • A minimum of one year of satisfactory experience in a food-related role or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
  • Flexibility to work in varied shifts.
  • Adherence to personal hygiene standards consistent with sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift items weighing between 26 to 75 pounds.
