Job description:

MORRISON ANIMAL HOSPITAL is excited to announce an opening for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess 2 to 3 years of experience in a general veterinary practice.

Location: 33607 Ford Rd., Garden City, MI 48135
Shift Details: This is a full-time position (30+ hours/week), requiring availability for four days a week with rotational Saturdays.

Hospital Hours:

  • Monday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Thursday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Sunday: Closed

Compensation: $22 – $26 per hour, commensurate with experience.

As a three-doctor practice, Morrison Animal Hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for both dogs and cats, including orthopedic surgery, laser therapy, ultrasound, and more. We seek an individual with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, and anesthetic monitoring for general surgery and dentistry. Proficiency in monitoring multiple parameters, including SPO2, CO2, ECG, blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate, is essential.

Responsibilities:
As Veterinary Technicians, our team members will perform the following major duties:

  • Provide in-patient medical care, including administering medications, conducting treatments, and monitoring patient conditions.
  • Manage anesthesia and surgical procedures, including preparation, induction, maintenance, monitoring, and post-operative recovery.
  • Assist with dental procedures, including ultrasonic cleaning and providing support during surgeries.
  • Conduct radiographic procedures and assist in processing radiographs.
  • Perform laboratory duties, including sample collection, processing, and result documentation.
  • Generate client communications, including patient updates and educational materials.
  • Conduct various veterinary technician appointments and assist with outpatient care.
  • Support front desk operations and assist with training new team members.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, including preparation of prescriptions.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing, with the ability to manipulate and lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance. The role requires endurance in standing and walking on hard surfaces, and the technician must be adept in noisy conditions typical of a veterinary environment.
