Job description:
The Reserve at Red Run, Madison Heights’ newest senior independent living facility, is seeking skilled cooks to join our team. We are looking for individuals who embody a positive attitude and are ready to contribute to enhancing the quality of life for the seniors we serve.
Our modern facility is designed for the next generation of seniors, and you will have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art kitchen with a ‘cook to order’ menu. The quality of our food plays a vital role in enriching the lives of our community members.
As a Cook, your primary responsibilities will include preparing and coordinating food that meets or exceeds the community’s quality, quantity, and service standards. We are looking for experienced cooks with at least one year of experience in a restaurant setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals for community members.
- Coordinate and assist in managing the meal service effectively.
- Ensure sanitation of all food service areas.
- Maintain accurate records relating to food preparation and inventory.
- Receive, rotate, and manage inventory responsibly.
- Prepare meals catering to special dietary needs as required.
- Create texture-modified foods as requested.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Monitor compliance with quality service standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
- Prior experience in preparing large quantities of food is essential.
- Serve Safe Certification is preferred.
- Menu planning experience is preferred.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficient communication skills in English are necessary.
- Verification of eligibility to work in the United States is a requirement.
- Candidates must be willing to undergo a criminal background check.
- A current TB test and physical (if required by the position) are mandatory.
Requirements:
- Availability for every other weekend is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and support weights of up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent kneeling, crouching, and bending are essential.
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
